A Quran speaker is one of the most popular gifts in UAE homes, especially before Ramadan and Eid. It lets the family listen to recitation at any time without unlocking a phone, dealing with notifications or adverts, or searching through apps. Today's models also double as night lamps, Azan clocks and Bluetooth speakers, which makes choosing one a little confusing. This guide explains the features that matter, who each type suits, and what to check before you buy a Quran speaker in the UAE.
What does a Quran speaker do?
At its simplest, a Quran speaker is a small audio device with the Quran pre-loaded on internal memory or a memory card. You choose a reciter and a surah using buttons, a remote or a phone app, and the speaker plays the recitation. Because the content is stored on the device, most models work without Wi-Fi or a mobile connection.
Many speakers add extra content such as translations in several languages, duas, adhkar, hadith collections or tafsir audio, plus general features like Bluetooth music, FM radio or a built-in light.
Common types of Quran speaker
Touch lamp Quran speakers
The most common style combines a speaker with an LED lamp that you switch on with a tap. They suit bedrooms and children's rooms, where a soft light and gentle recitation at bedtime are welcome. The 5-in-1 Quran Speaker Touch Lamp includes 18 reciters, 14 language translations, word-by-word playback, app pairing and a remote.
Azan clock speakers
These add prayer-time alerts, which is useful in a home prayer corner or for older family members. The Quran Speaker LED Touch Lamp with Azan Clock comes with a 16 GB memory card, remote control and prayer-time alerts. Check that prayer times can be set for your city, as times differ between Abu Dhabi, Dubai, the Northern Emirates and other locations.
Desk lamp speakers
A desk lamp speaker suits students and children who are learning to recite or memorise. The Quran Speaker Desk Lamp with Azan Reminder offers one-click surah access, a word-by-word mode for learning and extra content including 40 Hadith.
Decorative and compact speakers
For a majlis, living room or bedside table, a decorative model can be a statement piece. The Moon Lamp Quran Speaker gives a soft moon-style glow and is rechargeable. At the smallest end, a Quran fridge magnet plays a single pre-loaded surah at the touch of a button, a simple gift for kitchens and children's rooms.
Features to compare before you buy
Number of reciters
Most families have a favourite qari. Check which reciters are included, not just how many. A larger selection is useful if different family members have different preferences.
Translations and learning tools
If English, Urdu or another language is spoken at home, look for translations in that language. For children and new learners, word-by-word or repeat modes are valuable because they let you replay a verse until it is memorised.
Controls: buttons, remote or app
A remote control is the easiest option for older relatives, who may prefer not to use an app. App control is convenient for choosing exact verses and setting playlists. Many speakers offer both, so the whole family can use them comfortably.
Memory and content
Internal memory or a supplied memory card (for example 8 GB or 16 GB) holds the recitations. More storage usually means more reciters and extra content. Avoid deleting the original files when adding your own audio.
Power and battery
Decide whether the speaker will stay plugged in beside the bed or move from room to room. Rechargeable models are more flexible; plug-in models are always ready. If buying a rechargeable speaker, check how it charges (USB-C is convenient) and keep the cable with it.
Sound and volume
Quran speakers are designed for clear speech rather than deep bass. For a bedroom or prayer corner, a compact speaker is plenty. For a larger majlis, choose a model with a higher rated output and place it centrally.
Where to place a Quran speaker at home
- Bedroom: a touch lamp model for evening recitation and a soft night light.
- Children's room: a learning-focused speaker with word-by-word playback.
- Prayer corner: an Azan clock speaker to mark prayer times. See our guide to creating a prayer corner at home.
- Majlis or living room: a decorative design such as the Portable Museum Quran Speaker, which has 16 reciters, app, remote and touch control.
- Kitchen: a compact fridge magnet player.
Respectful use
Many families prefer to play the Quran where it can be listened to attentively, and to keep the volume at a comfortable level. It is also a good idea to avoid leaving recitation playing in bathrooms or near noisy appliances, and to keep the speaker in a clean, raised place such as a shelf or bedside table.
Choosing a Quran speaker as a gift
A Quran speaker makes a thoughtful gift for parents, grandparents, newlyweds, new homes and children starting to learn the Quran. For older relatives, choose large, clear buttons and a remote. For children, choose a learning mode and a gentle night light. For a new home, a decorative lamp design works well. For more ideas, see our Islamic gift ideas or browse all Quran speakers.
Frequently asked questions
Do Quran speakers need the internet?
Most do not. The recitations are stored on the device's memory or memory card, so they play offline. An app connection is usually only needed for app control or Bluetooth features.
Can I play my own audio on a Quran speaker?
Many models support Bluetooth, which lets you stream from your phone, and some accept MP3 files via USB or a memory card. Check the product details for each model.
Are Quran speakers suitable for children?
Yes, many families use them to help children listen to and memorise short surahs. Look for word-by-word or repeat playback, and supervise young children with any charging cable.
How do I set Azan times for my emirate?
Follow the speaker's manual or app to choose your city or set times manually. Prayer times vary slightly between emirates, so set your own location for accuracy.
Do you offer delivery and Cash on Delivery?
Yes. Sayef Store offers free delivery across the UAE, Cash on Delivery, and 7-day returns on unused items.
